According to ABS-CBN, Kiefer Ravena’s US training might be in preparation for the upcoming NBA D-League national tryouts.

Ravena studied at theAteneo de Manila High School where he was recognized as one of the top high school basketball players in the Philippines. Ravena is a three-time UAAP Juniors Champion, two-time UAAP Juniors Finals MVP, two-time UAAP Juniors Mythical Team member, one-time FIBA Asia U-18 Mythical Team member, two-time UAAP Seniors Champion and three-time UAAP Seniors Mythical Team member. He is also the UAAP Season 74 Rookie of the Year and the UAAP Season 77 and 78 Most Valuable Player awardee. At the 2011, 2013 and 2015 Southeast Asian Games, he won gold medals as a member of the Philippines national basketball team.
Japeth Aguilar also tried his luck in NBA D-League and he was the 109th overall draft pick of the 2012 NBA D-League draft, drafted 13th in the 7th round by the Santa Cruz Warriors and became the first ever Filipino to be drafted in the NBA D-League but was waived before the season started.
While Bobby Ray Parks Jr. Parks was selected by the Texas Legends in the second round of the 2015 NBA D-League Draft. He was the second Filipino to be drafted in the NBA D-League after Japeth Aguilar. He finished the 2015–16 season playing 32 games, averaging 4.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks in 13.3 minutes per game.
