Mapua Red Robins’ Will Gozum bagged the NCAA 93 Juniors MVP award. The six-foot-five big man averaged 13.8 points in 49 percent shooting on top of 9.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, and 1.3 assists and helped the Red Robins to a 13-5 record in the eliminations and then quickly dispatched Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the Final Four.

Will Gozum was also selected to the Season 93 Mythical Team along with teammate Warren Bonifacio, Aaron Fermin of Arellano High School and College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills inside-outside combo Joel Cagulangan and Inand Fornilos.

Bonifacio averaged 11.5 points in 48.3 percent shooting to go along with 11.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.7 steals while Aaron Fermin of Arellano High School normed 14.8 points in 42.3 percent shooting as well as 16.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.

Cagulangan posted 16.2 points in 42.7 percent shooting to go along with 6.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.3 steals while forward Fornilos who averaged 13 points in 53.9 percent shooting on top of 12 rebounds and 1.9 blocks was also chosen as Rookie of the Year.

 

Do-it-all swingman Clint Escamis was named the league’s Most Improved Player along with Neil Villapando of San Sebastian.
